New Frame Installation

The construction of churches from the 1950's to the 1970's saw the use of single glazed aluminum, metal, and stone window frames or double glazed metal frames. These types of window frames have never been energy efficient and are now deteriorating to the point where they are no longer structurally sound.

Here are a few common problems to look for on the frames:

The glazing compound that holds the glass panels in is deteriorating and falling out.

Operational areas of the frames are no longer fully functional leading to damaged stained glass. Holy Rosary Catholic Church - North Mankato, MN

GAPS IN THE FRAMES ALLOW THE COLD WINDS IN.

In cold climates, aluminum and metal frames frost through creating water damage on the interior of the church ( wood, plaster,…)

Water infiltration rusts metal frames and deteriorates stone frames to the point where they are no longer structurally sound.

The West Lisbon Evangelical Lutheran Church outside of Morris, Illinois has single glazed stone frames. The deterioration of the one balcony window was to the point that pieces of the frame were breaking off and falling on the walkway to the main entrance of the church. West Lisbon Evangelical Lutheran Church

Cathedral Crafts craftsmen removed the stained glass window and all of the deteriorated stone frame. What Cathedral Crafts craftsmen installed in its place was a new triple glazed aluminum frame fabricated in the same design as the original stone frame. This new frame holds 1" thermal pane glass for the exterior glazing and has a separate interior chanel to hold the stained glass panels, which Cathedral Crafts artisans restored.

Cathedral Crafts craftsmen have replaced existing wood sash frames with the new triple glazed aluminum windows for churches that have recognized the inefficiency of the wood frames. Projects that require operational ventilators receive new aluminum double glazed frames.

Latrobe United Presbyterian Church The installation of new triple or double glazed aluminum frames can greatly enhance the esthetics of the church building while increasing energy value and reducing maintenance costs.
